Glock G27 - The Glock G27 sure is small, but it packs a punch: The Glock line of pistols is very diverse—whether you're looking for a compact, subcompact, standard, or long, there are several options. The calibers available to choose from are also quite varied, from the big .45 ACP to the smaller .22 LR, as well as many in between, including the .380, 9x19mm, as well as the .40 S&W - the powerful one.

One of the most interesting of Glock's subcompact pistols is the G27, a very small and concealable pistol that still packs a punch. The G27 is chambered in .40 S&W, a highly versatile cartridge that bridges the gap between the heavier .45 ACP cartridges and the lighter 9x19mm cartridges. The .40 S&W also has the benefit of adding guidance and recoil similar to the 9X19mm, making it easier to convert to a larger caliber.

As a subcompact pistol, the G27 does not have the full magazine capacity of its counterparts in the Glock line, with the standard magazine holding 9 rounds. It can, however, hold other, larger 22-round magazines, though that would certainly negate much of the G27's compactness.

While it's certainly a versatile backup subcompact, with the release of the Gen 5 upgrade, the Glock G27 made it even better.

The G27 is built on Glock's Marksman Barrel, "an advanced barrel pistol based on a proven polygonal barrel design that provides improved accuracy." According to the Austrian manufacturer, their polygonal rifle provides better gas between the bullet and the barrel wall. This has the double advantage of keeping the gas behind the bullet as well as less deformation of the bullet during firing. These two factors can lead to a shorter barrel, higher bullet velocity, less wind resistance, and better accuracy. For the Glock G27, the barrel is 87 mm or 3.43 inches long.

One of the other Gen 5 improvements is the pistol grip. Gone are the tips of previous versions and in their place is a seamless grip that has been redesigned to provide a better tactile surface. The all-metal slide has also been redesigned and, in addition to the rear rails, includes additional surfaces on the front of the slide. As with the redesigned grip, the slide covers provide a better area for loading a round into the Glock G27 chamber.

Despite the small size of the Glock G27, it is a powerful backup weapon that Glock says has become very popular as a backup weapon throughout the United States.

Glock G40 - Glock introduced its Gen 4 G40 at the 2015 Shooting, Hunting & Outdoor Show. The polymer-framed semi-automatic pistol has a familiar look to the company's other offerings, but this one stands out from the rest.

First, it has a 6.02" barrel hidden under a long slide (it's 9.02 inches long, to be precise). It also features the company's new Modular Optics System (MOS), which makes attaching a red dot or reflex scope to the gun a snap. and easy—the virtues of saving money and time that hobbyists appreciate. The Glock with system features a milled optical slide and a matching base plate included with most popular electronic pistol scopes. This combination makes the holder a DIY optic rather than a gunsmith intervention.

The gun measures 9.49", overall, a fairly heavy figure to service or carry. However, its setup is ideal for the hunter, who is more interested in squeezing the last performance possibilities out of the cartridge than concealing and typically prefers optics to iron sights.

The G40 may not be the most well-known Glock pistol, but it continues to be a popular choice among enthusiasts, and for good reason. When B. Gil Horman reviewed one for the American Rifleman shortly after release, he concluded, “The Gen4 stock fits my hand better than the Gen3 model and the addition of the MOS feature is definitely a plus. The G40's arrival time was spot on. Lastly, we can enjoy a long 10mm glide at an affordable price with the rugged reliability of the Glock without the need for replacement parts or expensive gun manufacturing.”

The G40 MOS is chambered for 10mm, magazine capacity is 15 rounds, and magazine release is reversible. Modular back straps allow owners to customize the feel. The gun weighs 35.45 ounces. blank, and - for those not interested in mounting optics - the gun comes with an adjustable U-notch rear sight with a white dot in the front. The Glock doesn't list an MSRP, but the pistol costs around $800 on several reputable FFL sites.

That's a ridiculous amount of firepower for most casual users, and they wouldn't normally be driving it around town. It's just hard to handle. But there's a reason why the F350 was created, because there are users who know what they need to do great work. This can be heavy load, long distance transport or just *ss transport.

The new Glock pistol cases are a huge step forward, but I'd argue the G40 goes beyond that. Opening it, the case almost fell out because of the contents. Everything will return to the shell, make sure you improve your Tetris skills.

I wish the Glock was heavier considering its size, but it's a gentle giant at just over 28 ounces. Now, I wouldn't call her graceful, even for her size. Disassembled, the gun is front-heavy from the long slide, but when the magazine is loaded, it starts to balance out (about 40 ounces). It's only when the red dot is at the top that I find it neutral enough for extended shooting sessions.

The handle itself is huge. Those with small hands need not sign up, even without a back strap. My wife, who can reasonably grip the G17 9mm medium backstrap, had difficulty gripping firmly and pulling the trigger at the same time. My average sized hands find the lowest setting the most comfortable, but a medium back strap is the safest, as I tend to get shot and bitten. Unlike other competition-oriented Glock pistols, the G40 does not have an extended slide stop.

I'm sure this will be mentioned a few more times, but for handling purposes, this is a Glock Gen 4. The grip includes finger grooves (which work for me), a square textured grip pattern (which I also like), it's larger and reversible. magazine release and the cut on the trigger guard is too small for the middle finger. It comes with standard Glock adjustable sights (which work but are terrible) and interestingly the rear sights actually extend a bit over the rear of the slide. Not sure if this is a technical oversight, but annoying "perfection".

MOS or "Modular Optical System" is the latest and we find it a surprising addition to the Glock family. Introduced with the G40 and its smaller 9mm/.40 sibling, this is a factory optical mount with a sliding cutout. It's by no means groundbreaking as the aftermarket has been doing it for years, but it's useful and really helps "perfection" get closer to perfection.

Author's Note - It is disappointing that the PFI optics shipped separately from the Fowler's Pride are not compatible with MOS systems. When set for either model, the optic sits too far back to actually sit on the pistol slide as intended. I got a Trijicon mini-dot to test a MOS system (not pictured).

Typically, those who want functionality have to buy an aftermarket slide, send it in for milling, or use an adapter plate that raises the optics higher. Doing it at the factory has at least some advantages. Once loaded into the milling machine, it is easy and inexpensive to add cuts, the cutting area can be covered instead of left empty, and provides tighter tolerances than separate machine loads.

Glock 40 Or Glock 20?

The MOS mounting area is right in front of the adjustable rear sight. When shipped, it comes with a straightened and profiled plate that fits the slide. Mixing is excellent and only those with a steady eye or who hold a firearm up close will notice that it can receive optics. The plate is held in place by two torx head screws and easily removed to attach the optics. Mounts the sliding and optical adapter plate of your choice on the adapter plate. Voila.

Once installed, it brought another displeasure. The factory sight is too low-key for any kind of joint witness. Considering the cost of these injection molds, another oversight from Glock. I know there are a lot of aftermarket systems out there, but at least the Glock can pull it off.

If one has shot 10mm before, there's nothing particularly remarkable about the Glock's performance. The cartridge, to me, is the same as her daughter, the .40 S&W. There's a snap for reverse, which is aided by the double springs and heavier slide, but not so much that I can move on to another paragraph.

Accuracy continued to be average for my skills with the Glock, but the longer sight radius helped tone it down a bit to just over 1.5 inches at 15 yards (Freedom Munitions 180 grain RNFP) using iron sights (usually, I shoot around 2″ with a G19). By adding an optic (provided by PFI – detailed review to follow), I was able to narrow it down even further, shooting 2.0″ at 25 yards.

Consider A Glock .40 For Defense

As in almost every review written about the Glock, the trigger is long, soft, and Glock rock solid. However, I'm not a fan of this as Glock opted to remove the cleats found on most other pistols. It really features passive safety, which after about three magazines starts to really cause discomfort to my trigger finger. After 100 rounds I absolutely hate it. Of course, individual preference will dictate the day, but this is the Glock I think needs an aftermarket switch.

The trigger aside, the MOS system really shines in the gun. True to Glock's aims, the addition of optics makes it a long-range weapon with real hunting potential. For older eyes or faster target acquisition on a moving target, the red dot lights up

Glock G21 - These include the Glock Model 20 10mm and the Glock Model 21.45 ACP pistols. Introduced in 1990, the Model 21 in .45 ACP competes with other large-caliber pistols in police service. Americans demand more punch in their defensive pistols, and on my own it's an American Four Squared.

The gun has been well received. Good reliability and accuracy are good selling points. Another strong point is that the magazine holds 13 rounds of .45 ACP, giving the gun a total capacity of 14 rounds.

The disadvantage of the gun is its size. Female shooters with small hands and long fingers often do well with the Glock 21, although training and a thorough understanding of the type are required. Although the gun is bulky due to its polymer frame, it is quite light.

When you consider the overall picture, the Glock offers a fair amount of firepower in a lightweight package. For example, the original Colt 1911 Government Model of the same caliber weighed 39 ounces. The current service pistol, the 9mm Beretta 92, weighs 35 ounces and fires 15 bullets from the less effective 9mm cartridge.

Another advantage of the Glock is simplicity. The safe-action design offers only one trigger action to learn, unlike dual-action, first-shot pistols that require you to learn both double-action and single-action shots. No manual protection.

The lever on the trigger is not a real safety; It is a drop arrester meant to prevent inertia from moving the trigger if you drop the gun. Glock's Safe Action Trigger When you rotate the slide, the trigger moves forward under pressure. The striker, or firing pin, is then partially cocked. Continuing to squeeze the trigger, the attacker squeezed back, breaking the tension of the spring and flying forward, firing the gun. When the slide is reversed, the action is partially primed, and you can fire the pistol with another short trigger.

The Glock safety action has proven reliable in action and offers easy-to-learn triggers on the fly. While there is no manual safety, the real safety is between the ears, and Glock shooters should have the opportunity to keep their finger off the trigger until they are ready to fire.

The Glock Model 21 has proven to be as reliable as any other Glock pistol, meaning reliability is held to a high standard. Compared to other .45 ACP pistols, the Glock Model 21 offers moderate recoil. Despite its light weight, the polymer frame provides minimal recoil, and the large grip distributes recoil in the palm. The Glock Model 21 is the lightest recoil pistol in the .45 ACP caliber.

Combined with a lower bore axis than many others, the result is a gun that is controlled and accurate in shooting combat. The Glock Model 21 is also the Glock pistol with the most consistent accuracy. Some types of Glocks do not have great accuracy, and the Model 21 often gives excellent results.

Like all quality pistols, the Glock Model 21 performs better with one type of ammunition than another, but its accuracy is often high for a service-grade pistol. Good cycle reliability with all types of ammunition. +P rated ammunition is not recommended for several reasons.

Many will note that the pistol pictured was one of the first Glock 21 models. Newer versions have a better grip with finger indentations. The latest pistol has replaceable grip inserts and is more accurate than my original version.

Likewise, that old Model 21 is still serviceable. I highly recommend looking for a newer version; I've never seen a bad M21, and the new ones are better.

When testing the Glock Model 21 used in this feature, I deployed it in a Don Hume service-grade thumb holster. It's a great all-purpose design that strikes a good balance between speed and retention.

The illustrated Glock pistol has fired thousands of rounds in its lifetime. For the purposes of this review, I am shooting it with various service grade ammo.
